WHAT TO EXPECT

How to Prepare

  1. Dress casually and comfortably (you'll be taking your clothes off).

  2. Avoid wearing a lot of jewelry or accessories (you'll end up taking it all off).

  3. Hydrate (being properly hydrated is really important for maintaining your blood pressure as you heat up).

  4. Try to avoid consuming caffeine or other stimulants 3 hrs prior to your sauna (this will make relaxation easier).

  5. Avoid alcohol, drugs, and other substance on the day of your sauna session.

  6. Avoid eating a big meal an hour or two before your sauna session.

What to Bring

  1. You may bring a water bottle if you you'd like (note that if you bring it inside the sauna, the outside of the bottle may get hot).

  2. We provide a wet towel for wiping off at the end of your session.

  3. If you've booked a sauna for two with someone you're not comfortable being totally nude with, you may bring and wear a swim suit. We can also provide robes upon request.

Outlining the Sauna Experience

  1. Infrared sauna sessions are 40 minutes long (unless booked for longer).

  2. Upon arrival, you'll take about 5 minutes to get undressed and get settled in the sauna.

  3. Remember to remove all accessories (metal can get hot).

  4. The sauna will be set at 130 degrees Fahrenheit when you enter (you may increase or lower this temperature, but we ask that you reset it to 130 degrees at the end of your session).

  5. The amount of time you'll spend in the sauna is 40 minutes.

  6. The time it takes to begin sweating once you're in the sauna varies from person to person.

  7. You're welcome to change your body position in the sauna as you wish (sitting or standing).

  8. If you need help during your session, there is a button you can push in the room that will notify our staff to check in with you.

  9. After 40 minutes in the sauna (we ask that clients be aware of time) you'll exit the sauna.

  10. You'll take 5 minutes to wipe off with a wet towel and get dressed.

  11. You'll exit the sauna room. You are welcome to use our facilities, spend some time in the lounge, or enjoy another service.

SAUNA FAQs

Find Answers to Frequently Asked Questions here!

1

Why is the infrared sauna not as hot as a regular sauna?

Infrared saunas warm the body from the inside using infrared rays of light that penetrate into the body (approximately 1 ½ inches) and heat the body directly as opposed to a typical sauna which heats the body by means of a very hot room. .Because the infrared rays are warming from within, these saunas typically operate between 115-130 degrees, whereas traditional saunas operate between 170–200 degrees. Although the temperature is lower,  heating the body directly is more effective (therefore less heat is needed for the desired result) and makes infrared saunas among the most beneficial options available.

2

How often should I sauna?

We recommend 2-5 times per week. Depending on what your goals are you may need more or less than this. Consult with one of our staff members for a recommendation for your specific goals.

3

Can I use the sauna if I'm pregnant?

Sauna use is contraindicated during pregnancy which means you should not use the sauna if you're pregnant.

4

Do I need to book appointments in advance?

Most of the time, yes. We do allow last minute bookings for saunas when there is a time slot available but it's best to book ahead so you can make sure your reservation is saved for you.
